Dispatcher Journal: events and shifts in one system
A desktop application for an energy company's dispatch service. It records events, shift handovers and responsible staff, while the row color immediately shows the entry type.
- Type
- Desktop application for Windows x64
- Made for
- An energy company's dispatch service
- Stack
- C++, Qt 5 Widgets, MySQL

The task
The dispatch service needed one journal instead of scattered records: what happened, when, at which object and who accepted the work. Emergencies, repairs and scheduled work had to be distinguishable without opening each entry.
The application had to use a shared server database, preserve history and provide exports for further processing.
What was built
- An event and shift journal with dates, objects, categories, statuses and entry authors
- Color coding for emergencies, repairs, maintenance and shift handovers
- Approvals by responsible staff, comments and linked documents
- Search, filters and entry history
- Event templates and a configurable set of displayed fields
- Export and printing, including Excel; data is stored in MySQL
The result
Operational records are gathered in one multi-user journal: a dispatcher sees priority events by color, their history and responsible staff, and can export data for reporting. The screenshot shows the running application with demo data.
